Information About Reproducing Einstein's Image
The Emilio Segrè Visual Archives has many images of Albert Einstein that have been donated to us over the years from various sources. We provide reproduction scans and prints of Albert Einstein for educational, non-commercial use only. We do not own copyright to these images; therefore, permission for publication is given on behalf of the Emilio Segrè Visual Archives as the owner of the physical items and is not intended to include or imply permission of the copyright holder, which must also be obtained by the applicant. Users with questions pertaining to copyright liability should seek their own legal counsel, as we do not provide such guidance.
Users should also be aware that Albert Einstein bequeathed his literary estate to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The University later secured celebrity rights to his persona and then authorized Greenlight, a Corbis brand, as their agent in the commercial use of his persona, which includes the name, voice, signature, photographs, likeness and image of Albert Einstein. Applicants interested in using Einstein's image are encouraged to contact Greenlight if you intend to publish his image, and have any questions regarding licensing and rights.
