Congress has completed the FY 2015 appropriations cycle with House and Senate approval of a $1.1 trillion bill providing funding through September 30, 2015 for all departments and agencies with the exception of the Department of Homeland Security that will be funded through early 2015.
The bill has not been printed in final report form. The section on the Department of Education starts on PDF page 92; a funding table starts on PDF page 158. Note that language in the previous Senate appropriations report stands unless modified by language in the conference report. See FYI #130 for background on the Administration’s proposed realignment of the Department of Education’s STEM efforts that was rejected in the Senate bill. Appropriators provided the following funding for the existing Mathematics and Science Partnerships program.
Mathematics and Science Partnerships:
The FY 2014 appropriation was $149.7 million
The FY 2015 request did not request funding for this program
The Senate bill provides $155.0 million, an increase of $5.3 million or 3.5 percent above current funding
There was no House bill
The final bill provides $152.7 million, an increase of $3.0 million or 2.0 percent above current funding
