When you visit the Niels Bohr Library & Archives reading room, one of the first things you see is a wall of the most recent newsletters and publications from the American Institute of Physics (AIP) and its Member Societies. But what happens to these newsletters when new issues arrive?
In addition to our full runs of journals published by AIP held by the library, these newsletters are accessioned into the archives on an annual basis. They are processed like all the collections we receive and are separated into collections of miscellaneous publications by each AIP division and Member Society.
A new guide is now available online to show researchers how to access new and back issues of these newsletters. The guide specifies the life cycle of each newsletter beginning with the reading room, links to where it is online, and if back issues are available in the library stacks or the archives. If it can be found in a miscellaneous publications collection in the archives, a link to the finding aid is included to see a full list of the contents of the collection.
