Sara Horn, Photo Project Assistant
So long, farewell! It’s my turn to say goodbye to our Into the Stacks tour. I hope you enjoyed the behind the scenes look into my job.
You first saw me using a light box to identify Alsos Mission negatives:
Here I’m using a light box to identify negatives that were found to be part of the Thurgood Collection. This collection contains photographs from the Alsos Mission and show the travels of physicists and the military as they tracked Germany’s atomic bomb progression. - Sara pic.twitter.com/kzhl5sdBAe

Secondly, I showed you what the proper folders and boxes needed for housing archival material:
Before and after of rehousing photographs from various AIP events and departments. The folders were taken from filing cabinets placed into Paige boxes and I transferred them into archival Hollinger boxes while creating an inventory.

In January, I introduced you to the metadata clean-up project that the Visual Archives is working on. We are going through each image to provide as much information as possible for our users.
Metadata, Metadata, Metadata!! A large project the Visual Archives has undertook is metadata clean-up of their records viewable online. I've been hard at work going through photographs to provide more info about them. As in the case of Erwin Madelung portrait. ~ Sara pic.twitter.com/4VGkFHw67D

I leave you with more insight into the rehousing of photographs. A large donation of photographs came in recently from the American Astronomical Society that need to be preserved.
A lot of rehousing going on here in the Visual Archives. Been working on properly storing a collection of photographs from various American Astronomical Society (AAS) meetings. Most came in boxes then I placed them in protective sleeves, folder them and placed in a Hollinger box. pic.twitter.com/vANr6a6gpT
