Homer L. Dodge in his 15-foot Blue Grumman Aluminum Canoe 'giving safe conduct' to the Heary Cruiser Macon through the Eisenhower Lock on its return trip from Chicago at the time of the formal opening of the Seaway by Queen Elizabeth and President Eisenhower, June 1959. Homer had been a guest of the U.S. Navy on the Macon during its trip from Boston to Chicago.
