The Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station in Lacey Township, New Jersey, is now being fueled and is now undergoing an extensive test program preliminary to commercial operation around mid-year.The largest commercial nuclear power unit to date in the U.S., it is a turnkey project of the General Electric Company's Nuclear Energy Division for Jersey Central Power and Light Company, a subsidiary of General Public Utilities Corp. The Oyster Creek plant will produce 640,000 kilowatts of power when fully operational.
