Boyden Station in 1936, soon after Shapley had arranged for the Southern Station to be moved from Peru to the Union of South Africa. The Station is near Bloemfontein, Orange Free State; at the left is the Modder River. A large cylindrical dome houses the 61" Rockefeller reflector.
