Site of the first liquification of helium, July 10th, 1908. The 0.82 Kelvin denotes the record low temperature reached by pumping on a bath of liquid helium with a battery of 16 diffusion pumps. Display commemorating Dr. Kamerlingh Onnes producing liquid helium for the first time “at this location” on July 10, 1908.
