Photographs of the original Monument of Laplace, formerly standing in the Pere Lachaise Cemetary, Paris, but moved in 1878 to his birthplace, Beaumont-En-Auge, when the remains of the illustrious astronomer were transferred to Saint Julien de Maillac, a small locality in the neighboring Canton d'Orbec, Calvados, Normandy, where another monument was erected.
