Dr. Leonard Mandel, Professor of Physics at the University of Rochester, is the first recipient of the Max Born Award of the Optical Society of America. The award, which will recognize the person who has made outstanding contributions to physical optics each year, was presented October 20 at the society's annual meeting in Tucson, AZ.
