Zigzag Face-Pumped Laser developed at General Electric Research and Development Center is shown with Dr. William S. Martin, who invented it with Dr. Joseph C. Almasi. The laser produces a high power, high quality beam by passing it through slabs of glass set in a zigzag pattern (as shown in diagram on blackboard). Applications may include rangefinders, missile and satellite tracking systems, and industrial drilling and welding.
