Description: 

Dr. W.F. Meggers of the U.S. Bureau of Standards and the newly installed apparatus which he is using in a study of the spectra of light. The studies are all recorded on photographic plates accurately focused upon a screen which separates the ray of light into the various colors. In this photograph Dr. Meggers is shown placing the photographic plates in the holder.
