Small ruling machine at Mount Wilson Observatory. The 900-tooth spacing gear is seen edgewise on the right. The driving worm engages the top of the gear. Pitch of main screw is 1.5 mm. The diamond carriage is shown on the flat-topped monorail that was later replaced by a cylindrical rail.
