Dr. K. Linga Murty, a member of APS and professor at NC State University in the Department of Nuclear Engineering and the Department of Materials Science & Engineering, is elected a fellow of the American Society of Materials International (ASM-International). he was honored at the ASM-Fall Meeting in Cincinnati on Oct, 8th during the ASM Award Ceremony. He was the recipient of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) Mishima award in 1993 and received the Alcoa Foundation Research Achievement Award in NCSU in 1988.

Dr. Murty come from India more than 30 years ago as a graduate student at Cornell University, and during his academic studies, he received several awards among which are the Metcalfe Medal (1963), Sripathi Medal (1962) for outstanding achievement in M.Sc. and B.Sc. (Hons) respectively in Andhra University, India.
