Caption reads: "Dr. Yuri Orlov, Founder, Moscow Helsinki Watch, after seven years labor camp". Yuri Orlov, well-known Soviet physicist and dissident, was punished for his human rights activities by years in KGB prison and labor camp, followed by Siberian exile (1984-86) in Kobyai, Yakutia, where this photo was taken by a visiting friend. Deported to the US in 1986, Orlov continued his scientific research at Cornell University and Brookhaven National Laboratory.
