William L. Parker (right), a graduate of Reed College, took his PhD at the University of Illinois. In 1948, after being a staff member at Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn for six years, he became professor and department head at Reed. His research work includes study of vacuum spectroscopy and isoelectronic sequences. Students in photo unidentified.
