Robert Resnick (right) with Yuri Orlov at a New York Academy of Sciences reception honoring Orlov shortly after his deportation to New York from Siberian exile in October, 1986. A well-known Soviet physicist and human rights activist, Orlov spent years in KGB prison, labor camp and Siberian exile as punishment for his human rights activities. In 1987 he resumed his scientific research at Cornell University and Brookhaven National Laboratory. Robert Resnick was a physics educator and textbook author.
