Several NASA astronaut candidates prepare to take part in a water survival training exercise at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida during a three-day special school there attended by 16 of the recently named group of 35 Shuttle astronaut candidates. Rhea Seddon is in the center, Sally Ride at far left. The course was designed to prepare the trainees for proper measures to take in the event of emergency ejection from an aircraft over water.
