L-R: George Newell, Jr., assistant research professor; Theodore Castner, graduate student (PhD, 1958); Louis Hebel, graduate student (PhD, 1957); and Charles Slichter, professor of physics work with equipment. Photo was taken in Slichter's basement laboratory in the old Physics Building at the University of Illinois. Their superconducting magnet is shown in the right foreground of the photo.
