Lee Teng looks through one of a linac section, one of 10 such components which will make up the linear accelerator portion of the Zero Gradient Proton Synchrotron (ZGS). The 10 linac sections are being assembled in the injector building of the ZGS. The linear accelerator will increase the energy of the proton beam to 50 million electron volts at Argonne National Laboratory. (Particle Accelerators)
