The vertical cylindrical stack is a linear accelerator structure, also an RF cavity. The frequency reads 2.45 GHz on the digital readout on the lower right - the standard frequency for such structures. The circular display, a Smith chart, is a standard RF measurement of Impedance.

Seated at the structure is Robert Hoffswell (NPL RF engineer).
